In 2003, Ncazelo Ncube worked with Southern African child survivors of trauma, drawing a Tree as a metaphor to help the children narrate and navigate the impacts of their family history and ancestry, significant events, people, challenges, hopes, and 'fruits' of their hard work (Ncube, 2006). At Tree of Life Psychology, we honor Ncazelo Ncube's vision, innovation, and heart for helping people heal.
Therapists at Tree of Life Psychology gratefully acknowledge that we work, play, and rejuvenate our minds, body, and spirits on Treaty 6 Territory - ᐊᒥᐢᑿᒌᐚᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ Amiskwacîwâskahikan or the colonial name Edmonton. We acknowledge that we are settlers on the traditional ancestral lands, trade routes, and gathering places of many diverse Indigenous peoples including the Nêhiyawak (Cree), Anishinaabe (Saulteaux), Niitsitapi (Blackfoot), Denesuline (Dene), and Nakota Sioux, and many others whose histories, languages, and cultures continue to enrich our community. Treaty 6 is also the home of the Métis Nation of Alberta Region 4.
